“Grandma's Cottage” is a holiday apartment with approx. 55 m² of space that has been lavishly and lovingly restored with comfortable furnishings making it an accommodation in the 4-star range. It offers a modern comfort with romantic country flair in the traditional ambiance of an old Cottage in East Friesland.

No need to rush to the next supermarket for food. “Grandma’s Cottage” is all about relaxation and enjoying the moment. We have a small welcome basket of fresh local foods just waiting your arrival. This is your moment to whine down and explore your vacation home as well as the surrounding area at your leisure.

The antique oven in the kitchen is reminiscent of times past. It gives the living area a cozy ambience and provides additional warmth on cold days or country nights. It also can be used to ensure that the East Friesland is hot and ready for use. The fully-equipped kitchen provides you with all the facilities necessary to prepare some easy culinary delights or to cook East Frisian specialties. From a double plate induction cooker above the dual function microwave-convection oven to the Senseo coffee machine and the refrigerator including a freezer, you will find everything that you need to feel right at home, in “Grandma’s Cottage”.

Meals for you and your friends can be served in the brightly painted dining area that overlooks the southern garden and the approx. 20 m² sun terrace. From the terrace, you and your friends can enjoy a clear view of our idyllic windmill, the old barn and the majestic summer flowers of our garden.

In the lounge, a comfortable sofa invites you to relax, whether you are in the mood for a good read, watching some TV or a DVD, or even surfing the Internet using our free WiFi internet access. Every corner has been furnished for your utmost comfort.

In our tasteful, harmonious and functional-modernly designed bathroom with its’ bright and spotlessly clean contours, you can start every day revived and ready for enjoying the natural treasures that await you during your stay in east Friesland. Country life is all about simplifying your life. So that you can travel light, we also offer you the convenience of a washing machine.

For Pet Owners

Animal(s) accompanying the owner is permitted upon request. Please indicate when making your reservation. A fee per animal per day in the amount of € 8 will be charged. Their own bedding and towels should be brought by the owner. Our farm dog, Milly, and our cat, Mimchen, are looking forward to the visit of well-behaved animal friends.

For Anglers

The first promising fishing area can be reached in 10 minutes by foot. In East Friesland, there is simply one big fishing association called the BVO (please see: http://www.bvo-emden.de) instead of the usual variety of many small fishing clubs in similar regions. Thus, fishing is only permitted if you are a holder of a fishing license for all waters of East Friesland. The license can be bought at a reasonable price (starting from € 6 per day). Evidence of the successful completion of fisheries test is a requirement for attaining a local license. The owner of “Grandma’s Cottage” is himself a passionate fisher and can help you with the getting bait or choosing suitable waters.

For Water Sports Enthusiasts

East Friesland offers a variety of water sports. Whether you are an avid sailor, boater, kite flyer or windsurfer, there is an incredible selection of attractive locations for water sports. Directly within walking distance, the Ems-Jade channel has its’ own pier (please note: the pier/jetty is expected to be completed by mid-2013). Virtually at our doorstep, the "Uphuser Sea" is also for children or teenagers a great sailing area. Boat ramps can be found in sufficient number and size in the vicinity.

For Golfers

In East Friesland, you can find very attractive golf courses. The Golf Club Luetetburg, a golf facility with two 9-hole courses (www.golfclub luetetsburg.de), is located in the north.  There is also a public golf course for golf enthusiasts without club membership. It is suitable even for beginners and offers the opportunity to play on a beautiful coastal course. In Wiesmoor, The Golf Club Ost Friesland (www.golfclub-ostfriesland.de) is one of the finest golf courses in Germany with a 27-hole course. In addition, the Golf Club Norderney (www.gc-norderney.de) offers an exclusive 9-hole course in the dunes.
